Curse of the Mummy

There are various theories as to how the legend of the Mummy's curse came about.

One theory is that writers were inspired by stage shows where Egyptian mummies were unwrapped on stage.

There is however, some evidence of some non pyramidal tombs being inscribed with curses that threaten anyone who desecrates the royal resting place.
