Freya

Another illustration developed from an idea in my sketchbook.

When I showed the pencils to John Gatehouse, he suggested that the drawing would work as a new design for the lead character of an old comic strip concept of ours called Freya.

An adventure strip dealing with parallel worlds, Freya never really got much further than an initial five page script, a page of pencils and four pages of thumbnails, but maybe one day...

Jonni Thunder

This is the artwork for my submission to the Relaunched blog.

Contributors to Relaunched choose an existing comic book property, they then create a cover and a plot synopsis to show what they would do with the characters, if given the task of re-imagining them for a new audience.

My version of Jonni Thunder, is really an amalgam of the original Golden Age Jonny Thunder, created by John Wentworth and Stan Aschmeier in 1940, and the Roy Thomas created Jonni Thunder who first appeared in 1985.

My full re-interpretation of the comic, including the plot synopsis and Jonni Thunder logo can be seen on the Relaunched website.
