A Darkstar A Day...

Darkstar

Yesterday was International Darkstar Day on The Beat (the daily news blog of comics news, reviews, and information).

Steve Morris, the instigator of the event, put out a call in which he invited people to do a sketch of the character. He then collected the drawings together and “published” them on the blog.

Malta Comic Con. 2013

I've just spent a very enjoyable five and a half days in Malta as a guest of the Malta Comic Convention. This was the second time I have been a guest and it was interesting to see how the event has grown since 2010.

Fellow creator Tim Perkins, Deej Greenwood (one of Tim's students) and I flew out early Thursday morning. The next day was spent in and around the St James Cavalier Centre in Valletta, the venue for the convention.

The convention took place over the weekend. I spent the time sketching, talking to fans and fellow creators and selling copies of the Kaci Bell Mysteries.

There were a series of unexpected events on Saturday. The first of these was when we, the guests, were introduced to the Maltese Prime Minister. A few hours later we met the American Ambassador to Malta (who was dressed in a Star Trek uniform) and finally towards the end of the day the French Ambassador.

On Monday the convention organizers arranged a tour of Malta's National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta and then a trip to the cliffs at Dingli.

I had a great time at the convention, and that was all down to the hard work of Wicked comics (the convention organizers) and the volunteers who helped out over the weekend.
